It was announced late in the week the special collection has been organised for the week commencing November 3.
The additional green waste collection service will help local residents in cleaning up their properties after the recent snow storm.
“The recent snow storm has caused massive damage to trees that could not cope with the weight of the snow in the recent storm,” Lithgow mayor Maree Statham said.
Cr Mayor Statham said while the normal rules will apply to the collection service, the contractor will be able to take greater quantities due to the exceptional circumstances.
“However, it will still be important for the pruning’s to be no longer than two metres and no thicker than 200mm.”
Other requirements for the service include:
* The service will be provided to properties that have a garbage service.
* Clippings and leaves must be placed in a durable container, cardboard box or hessian- plastic bag.
* A weight limit of 16 kg for each bundle or box, however the contractor will endeavour to take the green waste if it can be comfortably lifted by two men.
Anyone who wishes to take advantage of this service should contact Council’s Customer Service Office on 6354 9999.
Alternatively they may register on Council’s website by midday on October 31.
Then on the night before November 3, leave their green waste adjacent to where they would normally place their garbage bin for pick up.
