Grippers are comfortably in second place, followed by Campeones and Charolais.
Kaprosols, who have hit a purple patch, are now putting pressure on the top four, while Smashers and The Jetsons have some work to do to make the play-offs.
Kaprosols continued their rich vein of form, winning a second straight match after four successive losses.
Their victim this time was Smashers.
Smashers had some early joy when they won the first rubber to go 2-1 up.
Kaprosols totally dominated winning the next eight rubbers by an aggregate of 16 games to five to put the match to bed early, 17-7.
Kaprosols’ mother and son Linda and Matt Kappos both finished at 6-2, with solid support from Paola Rosser (5-3).
None of the Smashers could get into the black as Roy Barlow went 3-5, while fill-in Pauline Wellfare and Riza Wiradi both recorded 2-6 marks.
The match between Charolais and The Jetsons was nip-and-tuck in the early stages with Charolais up 5-4 before The Jetsons nosed in front at 6-5.
A 10-1 run for Charolais then blew the match apart as they took an unassailable 15-7 lead.
The Jetsons, now mired in a three match losing streak, made the final score a bit more respectable, taking the last four games for the result to finish at Charolais 15, The Jetsons 11.
All of the Charolais players contributed to the victory, with Sean Jenkins scoring 6-2, Peter Rosser 5-2 and Mark McAulay 4-3.
Carol Poole (5-3) stood out in a losing effort for The Jetsons, with Karl Olson (1-6) and Isaac Trounce (1-6) both below their best.
The Jetsons gained small consolation by winning both doubles rubbers 2-0.
The match of the night was between Grippers and Campeones.
From 4-all Grippers, gunning for a fifth straight win, looked like they might pull away when they went out to 8-6.
Campeones came back to stun Grippers with an 8-2 march to hold an unbeatable 14-10 advantage.
Grippers now had to win both doubles rubbers 2-0 to force a tie.
They achieved this comfortably however, as their more solid combinations denied Campeones the win, with the match ending at 14-all.
Megan Kappos (6-1) almost got Campeones home, with Brody Forbes scoring 4-4 and Maurie Poole’s rubbers all going to three games for 4-5.
For Grippers, Lou Kappos (5-4) also got his money’s worth with three three-gamers, while Hayden Cox and Eric Joyce recorded 3-5 and 2-5 respectively.
The 4-0 result in the two doubles saved the Grippers’ bacon.
Titans had the bye.
