Council and the public at last night's meeting have reacted with shock to the news that the tourist railway had ceased operations at the weekend.
There has been no official confirmation at this stage from Zig Zag railway personnel .
Council was told the shutdown was proably due to the cost involved with some necessary stablisation work on the tunnel.
Council hopes to hold urgent meetings with Zig Zag railway personnel along with State and Federal Government representatives.
