IN the annual report tabled at the recent annual meeting, the president of the Leura Gardens Festival Ray Wiles said the 2012 Spring Festival had been one of the most successful events in its 48 year history.

He thanked the participating garden owners, the committee and the dedicated band of more than 300 local volunteers who continue to make this annual festival one of the most awaited events in the Blue Mountains.
In excess of $100,000 was raised during Festival 2012, most of which will assist in the purchase of medical equipment for the Blue Mountains and District Anzac Memorial Hospital.
In keeping with festival policy to assist other Blue Mountains health related charities, donations will also be made to The Blue Mountains Health Trust and Cancer Help.
Ray Wiles was re-elected president and Brooke Broughton vice president.
Philip Lee continues as secretary and Martin Vaughan as treasurer.
Other elected committee members were John Ewan, Pat Tonner, Richard Brown, Dr Ward Aitkens, Carol Whyte, John Sowden, Sue Du Brett, Paul Sullivan and Chris Holland.
The Leura Gardens Festival will be held this year from October 5 to 13.
