Congratulations to Lithgow District Netball Association’s under 13s team who finished third at the State Age Championships in Sydney from July 7-9.

The team took part in 18 games over the three days of competition against opponents drawn from right across the state.
“As for state age, both teams did very well. Playing 18 games over three days, the girls had some wins and some losses but overall they performed extremely well,” Denise Nightingale said.
On day one of competition the under 13’s team were very successful, winning five out of five matches.

- Macleay 13-11 win
- Coonabarabran 12-5 win.
- Cowra16-11 win
- Yass 24-7 win
“What an amazing start of competition for the 50th year of state age netball carnivals.The sun was shining and our 10 girls came out strong in all five of their games,” Lithgow netball secretary Zoe Barnes said.
“It was fantastic to watch their growing confidence and trust in each other, and the results reflected everyone’s hard work.”
On day two it was another successful day with the girls winning six of their seven matches.

- Parkes 19-9 win
- Brunswick Byron 24-12 loss
- Narrabri 13-9 win
- Sapphire coast 1-7 win
- Kurri Kurri 22-9 win
- Woolgoolga 22-4 win
“The girls came into today with great attitudes and still buzzing from their winning streak yesterday,” she said.
The girls only went down to Brunswick Byron who at that stage were sitting on top of the leader board.
“Credit once again to these 10 young ladies for their behaviour and sportsmanship, it was so lovely to witness the friendships, fun and memories these girls are creating,” she said.
On the final day of competition the under 13’s had a shaky start suffering from fatigue, which resulted in mixed results.

- Cobar 26-1 win
“The girls reflected, re-grouped and came back out on the courts to win their last three games with the teamwork we had witnessed the previous two days,” Barnes said.
"A fantastic result for such a beautiful bunch of young ladies, congratulations girls you should all be extremely proud of yourselves.”
The Under 13’s went into the competition with good form, after winning the Parkes carnival recently.
“They are playing well together,” coach Sheree Elliott said.
