Operation Explorer was a two-day joint operation between the NSW Police Force’s Police Transport and Public Safety Command and Corrective Services NSW.
On Friday, drug dogs were deployed along the Blue Mountains railway line, resulting in three cannabis cautions being issued and a small amount of cannabis seized.
Between 8am and 1pm on Saturday (24 March 2018), a large drug dog operation was conducted at a correctional facility in Lithgow.
A total of 72 people and 52 vehicles were searched.
A 25-year-old Parramatta woman was issued a court notice for possessing an offensive weapon in place of detention, after a folding knife was located in her wallet. A pocket knife was found in a 27-year-old Acardia Vale’s woman’s bag during a vehicle search and a 25-year-old woman was issued a court notice for driving whilst suspended.
Vandals damage retirement village garden
A retirement village was targeted by vandals overnight on Saturday.
Plants at the South Bowenfels residence were trampled and a water fountain was pushed over.
The same night, thieves stole a sewing machine and an overlocker from a shed in South Bowenfels. The property was taken from an unlocked garage sometime between 12am and 9am the next morning.
