Steve Hall, defending champion Andrew Burton and Bill Oldfield are all sitting on 144 following their first 36 holes.
Hall carded rounds of 71 and 73, Burton 74 and 70 and Oldfield 72 and 72.
Not to be counted out is past champion Max Nightingale back on 151 and a grand finish for the title this week should prove very exciting.
In B grade, scores are also close with the leader on 165 being Corey Oldfield followed by Mitch Luka 169 and Greg Guest and Brad Gordon on 170.
C grade sees Dean Stafford leading on 177 with Paul Cinat 184, Brian Giblett 194 and Paul Bailey 198 in pursuit.
Several other golfers in this grade are well and truly still in the race with C grade famous for some big swings in scores.
The handicap titles are equally exciting with A grade being led by Steve Hall on
140 nett, Max Nightingale 141 nett, Harry Bender and Oldfield 142 nett.
B grade is also close with Brad Gordon leading on 136, followed by Corey Oldfield 141, Graham Dean 145 and Geoff Brooks 145.
There are a couple of others in close proximity that could come into contention.
In C grade, Dean Stafford leads on 139 with Paul Cinat 146, Ben Oldfield and Gary Marshall also in the chase on 152.
First 18 holes (in winner, runner-up and scratch winner sequence): A grade Steve Hall 69 nett ocb, Anthony Oldfield 69 and Steve Hall 71; B grade Corey Oldfield 63 nett, Greg Guest 69 and Oldfield 75; C grade Ken Mitchell 70, Cinat 71 nett and Cinat 90 ocb.
Nearest the pins: Gary Marshall, Graham Dean, Brian Bourke, Bob Charlton and Corey Oldfield.
Second 18 holes: A grade Max Nightingale 69 nett, Andrew Burton 70 ocb and Burton 70; B grade Brad Gordon 67 nett, Dean Stafford 69 and Brett Scanlon 83; C grade: Ben Oldfield 65, Gary Marshall 77 and Oldfield 92.
Nearest to the pins: Paul Stewart, Geoff Thompson, Geoff Brooks, Max Nightingale and Dean Stafford.
Both ball competitions cut out on 73 nett ocb.
The final two rounds will be played this weekend.
