Wrecksavers started the better in their match with Grippers, leading 5-2 after three rubbers and then going out to a commanding 10-4 break just past the midway point.
Grippers, desperately chasing their first success, weren’t done though, and finished off the singles with a 6-1 run to be back in it at 11-10 down.
Wrecksavers refocused, and took both doubles by close 2-1 margins to secure the victory, 15-12.
Matt Kappos (5-2) just beat teammate Maurie Poole (4-2) to best record for Wrecksavers, while Pauline Wellfare struggled slightly to finish with 2-6.
Lou Kappos (4-3) was the only Gripper to get into positive territory, with Mark McAulay ending up square at 4-4 and Dave Mays going 2-4.
Charolais and Spinners were both looking for a maiden win and Spinners took an early 3-2 edge after two rubbers.
Charolais turned on the power from there, winning the next five rubbers by a combined ten games to three to go up 12-6.
Heading into the doubles Spinners had narrowed the gap to 13-10 to give themselves a chance.
Charolais quickly snuffed it out however, winning both doubles by a combined four games to one to break their duck with a 17-11 win.
A rounded team effort from Charolais saw Sharnie Roberts record 5-3, Leon Rust 4-3 and Riza Wiradi 4-4.
Kelly Gurney (4-2) stood out in a losing effort for Spinners, while Malcolm Jefferies was below his best at 3-5 and Carol Poole dropped three 2-1 decisions for a 3-6 result.
