The project has been boosted by a $15,000 State Government allocation from its Community Building Partnership (CBP) fund, which will cover about half the cost of the total project. 

The remaining funds has been raised by the hard-working Parents and Friends Association. 

K-6 teacher Erica Pringle said the new feature would allow the school to teach bike safety as well as reinforcing pedestrian safety. 

The Lithgow school has about 40 students. 

“We are very conscious of being bicycle safe and this means the students can learn to ride in a safe environment in what will be a welcome addition to our facilities,” The Scots School principal David Gates said.

“Depending on the weather, we are hoping of completing the project towards the end of the first term.”

The CBP is a program which forms a partnership with the NSW Government and community organisations to develop projects which could not proceed without funding support.

The 2017 program has provided $300,000 to support community based initiatives right across the Bathurst Electorate.

Applications for the 2018 program will be called for mid-2018.
