The grant will go towards council’s ‘Future Finders’ leadership project that will involve workshops, employment and education tasters as well as a forum for local young people in 2018.
Lithgow City Council has already shared some of the workshops planned for the year including young entrepreneur business skills and business for creatives. According to the council’s website, the Future Finders project is aimed at “inspiring Lithgow’s young people to build their futures in the Lithgow LGA”.
MP Paul Toole said he was proud to award the grant.
“Youth are the future of Lithgow. Engaging with them, their ideas and their vision for the city will help Lithgow grow and provide opportunities for them in the future,” Mr Toole said at an announcement on Wednesday, January 24.
“I am proud to support this grass-roots project that will build confidence in local youth, provide training and benefit the whole community.”
The state government awarded a maximum of $50,000 to 29 projects run by not-for-profit organisations and local councils as part of the 2017 Youth Opportunities grants program.
Residents between the ages of 15-24 can register their interest in participating in Future Finders workshops on the council website.
