The event will begin at 9.30am and run until 11.30am. 

Walk ‘n’ Talk is an initiative which seeks to start an open conversation about suicide and mental health in the community.

The day will consist of receiving free shirts and caps for all participants before talks about mental health from organisers and then the three kilometre walk and a sausage sizzle to finish. 

Last year there were three events, which all were extremely popular, with over 400 participants in two of them and more than 300 in the one taking place in winter. 

Event coordinator Brad Cluff said these events might happen quarterly this year because they are quite hard to organise.

Momentum for the Walk ‘n’ Talk event is continually growing on the Facebook page with over 150 people interested in the event thus far. 

“I didn’t realise the power of Facebook until this event,” he said. 

Several major sponsors including Centennial Coal have contributed money for the caps and shirts to be made for participants. 

There has also been donations of meat from local butchers and bread from local bakeries. 

It did not take much convincing to organise the event, as Brad has been personally affected by the tragedy of suicide. 

“There were three or four suicides that were really close to my group of friends and so five of us decided we needed to do something,” Mr Cluff said. 

Walk 'n' Talk is an ongoing event that aims to bring like-minded caring people together to help prevent suicide.

Their use of talking therapy has been known to save lives and whether you walk and talk, listen or just be present to show your support then Walk ‘n’ Talk wants you to come along.

Walk ‘n’ Talk Lithgow wants the community to open up their hearts and give more love than ever before.
