Activities will get underway at 10am in Wolgan Street and will continue through until 3pm and include the official ceremony at 12pm.
The official ceremony will commence with the singing of the national anthem and flag raising by the Portland Scout Group, followed by an address from Ambassador Bob Turner and the presentation of the senior and junior Citizens of the Year awards.
There will be the usual variety of entertainment, including stalls, a display of vintage vehicles, food and light refreshments at the CWA Rooms and the Tidy Towns barbecue.
There will be activities for the children including giveaway balloons and flags and further entertainment up until 3pm, including the presentation of colouring-In awards at 2.15pm.
The colouring-In competition has received good response, and many thanks to the staff and students at St Joseph's and Portland Central schools for their support and contribution, together with McDonalds Lithgow for its ongoing sponsorship.
Other activities on the day in Portland will include the Portland Pool (open from 12pm-6pm) and live entertainment at the Coronation Hotel from 2pm, with the popular local band Nobby and The Blowflys. J Mac and Enz will be appearing at the Portland RSL during the evening, and will be providing entertainment at the celebrations in the aftenoon.
Stallholders are still welcome and if any person or organistaion wants to be involved or assist on the day, they can contact John Kearns on 0409 345 752.
