Ross Gurney will be tasked with leading council’s Finance and Assets Division starting from this week.
“Mr Gurney comes to Lithgow as a highly qualified professional with significant financial experience in the local government sector and commenced duties with us last Monday,” Mr Faulkner said.
“Mr Gurney is an important addition to council’s Senior Management Team as we proceed to position council financially for the future.”
The recruitment of a CFIO was one of the key changes passed by council in July to help the organisation improve their financial accounting and reporting capability.
Mr Gurney’s background includes seven years working in senior finance roles at Blue Mountains City Council and prior to that working as a Chief Financial Officer in the private sector.
The new CFIO brings several solid qualifications to the job including being a Fellow of CPA Australia. He has previously obtained a business degree and a master’s degree in accounting.
