After the Eels drew first blood early, Egan brought his side back into the contest with a trademark try as he burrowed over the line from close range.
However that’s as close as the Panthers would get as Parramatta piled on 22 more points to seal the result and a place in this weekend’s National Youth Competition grand final.
Penrith will be left to rue their poor execution in attack and defensive lapses which allowed to the Eels to take the game away.
Egan came from the field late in the game with a head injury to close out his decorated NYC career.
The Lithgow Storm junior and former Workie leaves the NYC as a member of the 2017 Holden Cup Team of the Year and the first ever under 20s hooker to score four tries in a game.
The future looks promising for Egan after he signed a new two year deal in August keeping him at the Panthers until the end of 2019.
He is on track to feature for Penrith’s NRL and Intrust Super Premiership sides next season and may well take over from Peter Wallace as the club’s premier number nine in coming years.
