FootGolf has been taking root at golf clubs all over the world and now it’s Lithgow’s turn to have a go.

The game itself is simple. It’s best explained as a combination between soccer and golf whereby players are required to kick a ball into a hole in as few shots as possible.

Lithgow Golf Club has introduced the sport in an effort to attract more people from the community.

Golf may be seen as an exclusive sport but FootGolf is inclusive to a wider range of age groups and demographics.

“Golf is a hard sport,” club secretary Henriette Evans said.

“As long as you can walk and kick a ball, you can play FootGolf.”

The Lithgow Mercury got an early peek at FootGolf at the Lithgow Golf Club, have a look in the video below.

The nine hole course is fully accredited by FootGolf Australia has a wide variety of challenges for players.

Try your hand at the 212 metre par 5 hole 4 or the shorter 68 metre par 3 on hole 9. Just make sure you take into account the slope of the course.

A regular round should take around 45 minutes.

Prices range from $10 for a child to $35 for a family of four. Bring your own ball to save $5 on ball hire.

Your first chance to hit the course will be on Monday, September 25 from 1-5.30pm.
