Lithgow Lady Golfers Club Championship report

The Ladies Golf Championships were held recently in a variety of weather conditions including pleasant sunshine and bitter cold.

After the competition was interrupted by severe winds and torrential rain Sue Brooks emerged as the convincing winner of the Club Championship with a scratch score of 313.

Brooks also took out the 72 hole handicap event with 289 nett. The runner up in both the scratch and handicap was Lynne Ritchie.

The other two divisions were more closely contested with the winners only emerging on the last day.

Marie Hackett was claimed the B Grade title with a score of 435 while Malva McDonald was successful in C Grade.

The handicap winner in B Grade was Malva McDonald with 309 nett, one in front of Fran Le Fevre with 310 nett.

  • A Grade: Lynne Ritchie 72 nett
  • B Grade: Beryl MacDonald 71 on a count back from Malva McDonald
  • Nearest the Pin: Pat Livermore 384cms

Day two handicap winners

  • A Grade: Sue Brooks 72 nett
  • B Grade: Marie Hackett 75 nett

Day three handicap winners

  • A Grade: Lynne Ritchie 74 nett
  • B Grade: Malva McDonald 76 nett
  • Nearest the Pin: Pat Livermore 700cms

The August monthly medals sponsored by Helloworld were held in conjunction with round three and the winners were Lynne Ritchie and Malva McDonald.

Day four handicap winners

  • 1st Division: Sue Brooks 68 nett
  • 2nd Division: Marie Hackett 81 nett
  • Nearest the Pin: Anne Doohan 520cms.

That wraps up another successful Club Championships for 2017 albeit with a number of withdrawals due to illness over the course of the event.

Lithgow Lady Golfers thank Todd Nyitrai and Lithgow Valley Kia for their generous and continued sponsorship of the event over a number of years.

Four local players will travel to Leura next week to in the district final of the Keno Golf NSW Fourball Championship.

The Lady Golfers would like to extend their sincere sympathy to the family of the late Roma Dykes who was a well respected member of the club for many years.
