In January the state government announced $4.8 million in funding to provide a modern sewerage drainage system and treatment plant in Cullen Bullen to replace the deficient septic tank systems.
However Lithgow council has not yet received the funding deed for the project from the state government.
The funding deed includes the project milestones and program of works to be completed.
The Restart NSW fund informed Lithgow council last week that documents including the funding deed had been handed over to the NSW government.
It was then the government’s responsibility to pass on the paperwork to Lithgow council.
A spokesperson for the NSW Government said the documents were with the treasury for final approval.
“The NSW Government has now received all the necessary documentation to progress the Cullen Bullen Sewerage project. We appreciate Lithgow Council’s patience while the relevant approvals are sought prior to the implementation of a funding deed,” the spokesperson said.
Once the deed has been finalised, survey and design work can begin followed by the call for tenders and construction.
Lithgow council operations manager Iain Stewart said he hoped the project would be completed by the end of 2019 if no major problems arose.
The project is set to deliver a sewer collection network that will move wastewater from each local residence to a new Cullen Bullen wastewater treatment plant.
