The victors on the day were Cheryl Schram (skip), Ellen Staines and Deidre Stubbs with a hard-fought game over Judy Kennedy, Jenny O’Bernier and Wendy Constable.
The game was a friendly but very competitive one with Stubbs playing her usual consistent game with the ever-improving Constable hot on her heels during every end.
But it was Staines who played some brilliant on-shots when called upon to get her team out of trouble on many occasions.
Schram’s team held a valuable lead going into the final ends, but Obernier had other ideas and tried her hardest with some very good drives to get her team out of trouble .
Schram and Kennedy played a hotly contested game against each other with Schram’s team going on to win 20-14 in a great final.
Both teams played some hard-fought matches to reach the final, defeating Portland, Majellan, Lithgow City and Lawson .
The team sent out a big thank you to the Portland women’s club on a very well run competition, the green keeper Rob Lulands and also to the Workies’ club members for all their support.
