Please remember that school zones are in operation again from this week.
You must slow down to 40km/h in school zones.
There is also a 40km/h speed limit for traffic passing a school bus that is setting down or picking up school children.
This speed limit is for all traffic travelling in the same direction as the bus, whether the bus is stationary or moving.
The 40km/h speed limit must be obeyed when the rear ‘wig wag’ lights on the bus flash.
Flashing headlights on these buses also alert oncoming motorists that children are close by.

New round of funding for women
The NSW Government’s Investing in Women grants program is now open, and I urge local organisations that are eligible, to apply.
This program is a fantastic way to find new, local initiatives that invest in education, leadership and financial security for women.
This program provides funding for organisations to develop and implement projects that support the economic empowerment and leadership of women in NSW across three areas
- Work and financial security
- Education and learning
- Leadership.
Grants of up to $25,000 per project are available to organisations such as local councils, employers, industry bodies, training organisations and non-government organisations.
Applications close on Wednesday 24 May 2017.
For more information and how to apply, visit the Women NSW website: https://www.women.nsw.gov.au/women_and_work/investing_in_women_funding_program
Royal Bathurst Show
Roll up, roll up – this weekend we celebrate the 159th Show in Bathurst.
The show acknowledges many of our talented local residents in arts, crafts and cooking.
We get the opportunity to see some of the outstanding livestock that are grown right here in our very own backyards.
Our show has long been an opportunity to recognise and celebrate all that is great within our region.
It is an event I look forward to attending with my family every year.
With many improvements to facilities through the Public Reserves Management Fund (PRMF), and the showgrounds placement on the State Heritage Register, it’s a great facility to host this important annual event.
Make sure you get down and support the many volunteers, exhibitors and local businesses on display.
I believe in true ‘show weekend fashion’ the weather is going to be cool, so rug up and I look forward to seeing you there.
The show is on from Friday, April 28 9am until 10pm, Saturday, April 29 9am-10pm and Sunday, April 30 from 9am until 4pm.

World Immunisation Week
This week is World Immunisation Week.
It’s a great reminder for everyone to ensure your kids’ vaccinations, and your own are up to date.
Immunisations prevent between two million and three million deaths each year around the world.
The NSW Health’s popular smartphone app Save the date to vaccinate sends personalised reminders to parents when their children’s next vaccinations are due.
It has been downloaded more than 100,000 and is free!
