Ironfest is one of Lithgow’s most anticipated events.
Thousands will flock to town to have their senses assaulted by the sights, sounds and smells of the exciting fusion of science fiction, fantasy and yesteryear.
Originally developed as a way to showcase long forgotton trades and skills of the local iron industry, the event has exploded to become a celebration of everything weird and wonderful.
“With the inclusion of categories such as steampunk, cosplay and science fiction – the event has become a fantastic family friendly event that you can’t see anywhere else in the world,” said Ironfest president Rich Evans.

The festival kicks off with the Ironfest ball on Friday night. The weekend that follows is jam-packed with events and displays.
Popular events include jousting which displays the skills of medieval knights on horseback, the wild thrill of the birds of prey and the majesty of the Australian Armoured Vehicles.
“The Napoleonic battle is back due to high demand,” said Mr Evans.
“And the Guild Hall of Lost Trades is always a popular place to be.”
This is the 18th year of Ironfest. Last year the event attracted an estimated 16,000 people. “We’d like to thank our sponsors including Energy Australia, Centennial Coal and Lithgow Council for ensuring this fantastic event continues to be held.”
