Rydal Show’s Isabel Hawken, 24, came ‘second-runner up’ placing her in the state-wide competition’s top three.
Ms Hawken is a nurse at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital with hopes of one day joining the flying doctor service.
Agronomist Maisie Morrow from Merriwa took out first place.
Ms Morrows and Ms Hawken were selected to continue to the Sydney state finals at the Oberon Showgirl Zone Finals held at Mayfield Garden in March.
Margie Lowe, the Showgirl Coordinator at the Rydal AH & P branch, said it was an achievement for Rydal to be represented at the Royal Show.
“The last time we were fortunate enough to have a zone finalist was in 2014 when Showgirl Pippa Childs was selected to go to Sydney,” she said.
“There were 16 state finalists and out of the three winners, two were from zone five. Which is our zone.”
Wagga Wagga showgirl Emma Gorman was named the second place winner.
The Royal Show Showgirl Competition aims to find young female ambassadors for rural NSW. They are judged on their personality, confidence, ambition, rural knowledge, presentation and speech.
