Local artist and sculptor Tim Johnman submitted the unique designs and created the amazing books and ants that are now crawling up the library wall.
The works were installed on Thursday and had pedestrians stopping in their tracks to see what was going on.
Tidy Towns committee member Kathleen Compton said they were very pleased with how the artworks had turned out.
“Tim Johnman has extensive experience in creating sculptures for zoos, National Parks and Wildlife Service, council parks and children's playgrounds,” Ms Compton said.
“He has created everything from life size crocodiles and elephants to a giant centipede. Now it is books and ants!”
Lithgow Tidy Towns Chairperson, thanked Mr Johnman, as well as Phil Spark and Steve Cunningham, for the installation, and also Matthew Johnson and Lithgow City Council for their support.
Ms Compton said the Lithgow Tidy Towns Laneways Committee had further plans for Bird House Wall in Pioneer Park, as well as more art tiles to be installed in Secret Lane, in eastern Main Street.
