Emergency services were called to the Clarence Dam location on Thursday afternoon after the man jumped off a ledge and hurt himself on impact with the water.
The man was treated by Lithgow paramedics before an airlift was organised to take him to Westmead Hospital.
A Westpac Rescue helicopter from the Hunter Valley arrived at the location at 4.18pm after an earlier helicopter had to be diverted.
Rollover
Two occupants of a vehicle that rolled at Browns Gap on Sunday night were lucky to escape with only minor injuries.
The 18-year-old Wallerawang woman told police she lost control after trying to avoid a kangaroo in wet conditions at 9.45pm.
Spikes deployed
Police have deployed spikes across the Great Western Highway after a pursuit on Christmas Day.
The 27-year-old man from Tweed Heads did not comply with directions from a police vehicle to pull over near Meadow Flat after being observed driving in a dangerous manner.
Police followed the vehicle headed east with the pursuit not at high speed.
The man was issued with Court Attendance Notice for failing to stop in a police pursuit and not obeying the direction of police.
Quad rollover
On Boxing Day a 31-year-old St Clare man was airlifted from the Newnes Plateau after the unregistered quad bike he was riding rolled over.
The man was taken in the helicopter with a broken collar bone and ribs.
A female passenger avoided serious injury in the crash.
The man lost control and went down an embankment trying to negotiate a right hand bend. Police investigations are continuing.
Disqualified drivers
Police stopped a 47-year-old man on saturday driving on the Great Western Highway at Marrangaroo after observing him overtaking in a dangerous manner. On checking his details it was discovered his licence was disqualified and he was issued with a Court Attendance Notice. A 52-year-old Lithgow man also was busted on the GWH at Hartley on Sunday for the same offence.
