Volunteers from the Community Visitors Scheme were there to meet the bus and accompany the residents on their shopping spree and enjoy lunch together.
A big thank you to Jenny for organising the outing and to the wonderful CVS volunteers who assisted to make it a special occasion.
The Community Visitors Scheme is a national program funded by the Australian Government, supporting friends for older people.
The Scheme aims to enrich the quality of life of residents of aged care homes who are socially isolated or lonely, and would benefit from a friendly visitor.
The Community Visitors Scheme also helps to establish links between people living in aged care homes and their local community.
Volunteers are always needed.
If you would like to become a volunteer visitor with the Community Visitors Scheme, please contact the coordinator, Lorna Fitzpatrick, on 6351 3134.
