Heading into last weekend, Souths’ situation was dire. But as they upset local rivals St Pat’s 3-1 on Saturday then thumped Lithgow Zig Zag 7-1 in a catch up game on Sunday, they moved in reach of the top five.
That is where they need to be if they are to play in this year’s finals series.
“It is a grand final for us every week, we need to keep winning,” Cox said.
“Those two wins last week does help with confidence coming into the game against Dubbo, we are on a bit of a roll now.”
Souths and Dubbo have already meet once this year, the two blues posting a 6-1 win in April.
While Souths are four points outside the five, Dubbo will not play finals hockey this season. They are yet to win a game from 10 outings – a draw is their best result – and have only managed eight goals compared to the 23 Cox’s side has netted.
It means Souths will head into Saturday’s match as favourites.
“We should go into it thinking that we are going to win, as long as we are not over confident we should do it,” Cox said. “The girls know they need to keep winning, every game is a must win.”
Saturday’s match at Bob Roach Field starts at 1.50pm.
