THERE has not been much of a turnaround for top young soccer goalie Holly Beecroft.
Holly recently returned from a tour of the United Kingdom with the Australian Futsal under 14 girls side and now finds herself back in the representative games here in NSW.
Along with good friend Shaqkyra Quinn the pair are to represent NSW South at Australian Futsal nationals in Penrith early next year (more on the girls selection at a later date).
Holly will again be a busy goalie having also been selected to play for Nepean Football Club in under 17s as keeper for 2016 in Premier League No 2.
The UK experience was a tour Holly will remember for life having played 11 games throughout Wales, Scotland and England with some sight seeing mixed in with the tour.
Under the coaching of Jaz Kent, the Australian side went through undefeated with a 1-all draw in Scotland mixed in.
A big thrill for Holly was when she was voted her team’s best and presented with a medal to commemorate her play throughout the tour.
“It was unexpected (receiving the medal), but a real honour as there were some very good players in our side,” Holly said.
“I loved touring, we visited Edinburgh Castle, climbed the William Wallace Monument, saw a game at Manchester City and toured the Liverpool and Nottingham Forest Soccer Clubs.
“We also toured around London on the hop on hop off red bus which was a real highlight.
“This amazing tour would not have been possible without the support of the local community with 70 businesses offering me their support.
“I would also like to thank the Wallerawang Bowling Club, The Steel Valley Band, Jenny Lamborn and Jeff Geddes and the Lithgow Mercury and everyone else who supported me.”
Holly is the daughter of Joe and Sloan Beecroft of Lidsdale and attends La Salle Academy.
