Obstacle course
COULD be some interesting times around the roadworks around here this weekend as hordes of eager travellers pass through on their way to or from some destination for the Six Hour holiday. It’s the first post Winter break since the roadworks got under way at Hartley and Forty Bends so it’ll be interesting to see how the narrowed traffic lanes and speed limits work in the rush hour. It could be even more of a test during the coming Bathurst motor racing weekend when the roads are infested by impatient wannabe Peter Brocks. According to some overnight truckies of our acquaintance there are already drivers risking life and limb overtaking in the darkness.
The Lake’s the place
ON the subject of the holiday weekend it is no surprise that Lake Lyell is again our most popular destination for visitors during the break. Since the word spread about just how good it is you have to get in early to book a camping site but there’s still plenty of room for day trippers. The early arrival of ‘real’ summer conditions for the holiday weekend is a dramatic change after what has been officially described in eastern NSW as our coldest September in many years. Heck, we already knew that.
