LITHGOW Workies Panthers will go into day's final against Bathurst Souths with both sides looking for a spot in next week's grand final.
St Pats come into the game with a good win over Orange Wanderers while the Panthers were comprehensively beaten by minor premiers Bathurst St Patricks.
Many think the title is a foregone conclusion with St Pats who went through the season undefeated only having to turn up to win the title.
But this was the case last year and the Panthers caused a huge upset to down the Bathurst side and make it back to back premier league hockey titles for the club.
The Panthers have struggled this year due to losing a number of key veterans and also injury, but they are a proud club and will be fighting all the way to defend their title.
It will depend on who will take the field today for the Panthers' chances. At full strength they are still a formidable outfit.
They would like nothing better to get another crack at St Pats, but first they have a tough game on their hands today to stop an all Bathurst grand final.
The game starts at the Lithgow Hockey Complex at 1.40pm.
Their female counterparts have the week off after winning their match against Bathurst City while the women's final being between Bathurst City and Orange Ex-Services.
