WORKMENS Club Wolves had little joy in the lower grades with only their Oz League side getting up while the Under 18s and first division went down in games that were vital to their semi final chances.
The stand out performance for the day was a 30 point haul by Chrissy West in the Wolves Oz League's 42-16 win over Orange Hawks.
West had a great game setting up her teammates and was everywhere in defence.
She had good support from the consistent Mallory Goodman who finished with two tries while the other try went to Hannah Healey.
The girls have been in good form in recent weeks, but it could be a little too late with the Wolves sitting three points out of the five.
It was another good team performance by all of the players.
First division
The Wolves missed out on a good opportunity to move into the top five when they took on third placed Orange Hawks.
The loss meant that they are one point out of the five.
They were right in the match at 20-18 down with seven minutes to go when their discipline went out the window with a couple of their players being sent to the sin bin and were on the wrong end of a lop sided penalty count.
This allowed Hawks to score the winning try and wrap up the game 26-18.
The Wolves had the chances and looked to have taken the lead with 15 minutes to go, but unfortunately the ball was dropped over the line.
The boys are still confident that they can make the play-offs, but will face a stern test when they play competition leaders Bathurst Panthers this Sunday.
Their best were Keelan Bresac who scored two tries, Matt Swift (one), Luke Morris and Kyle Willmott.
Under 18
The young Wolves were up against the undefeated Orange Hawks side and after starting off strongly were well beaten 30-0.
There were a number of good individual performances with Aaron Orford, Mitch Case, Riley Allan and Cody Godden all playing well.
The Wolves matched Hawks for long periods, but simple one-on-one missed tackles and poor handling let them down.
