Channelling his passion and creativity, Tyron was inspired to build a bush walking track for people to enjoy in Oakey Park.
The reward for navigating the track is the spectacular Ida Falls, one of Lithgow’s most beautiful hidden gems.
It took six months of delicate hard work for Tyron to complete the track, including the building of steps and also a foot bridge across Ida Falls Creek.
Getting to know the area well during his own explorations, Tyron’s track will take the walker along a path past the ruins of the New Vale Colliery and through the ferny floor of Ida Falls Gully, before arriving at the serene Ida Falls itself.
A great knowledge and appreciation for the area has meant that Tyron has built a track allowing the walker to really enjoy this little piece of paradise.
The start of the track can be found by “heading through the sandstone tunnel under the railway tracks at the end of Bells Road, then following the tracks to the right up to the flatter area,” Tyron said.
“The track starts here.
“It’s much easier walking than following the creek from the tunnel,” he said.
If you are an avid bush walker, this is definitely a track to try and to experience a very beautiful hidden gem within the Lithgow Local Government Area.
Tyron recommends allowing two hours for an easy to moderate walk.
