A 36-year-old Lithgow man was hospitalised after being assaulted at a hotel in Lithgow on Sunday night. The assault occurred at about 11pm when the victim was allegedly assaulted by a 23-year-old Lithgow man. Lithgow paramedics and police were called to the scene where the victim was assessed and transported to Lithgow hospital suffering multiple head injuries. The alleged offender was charged with assault and will appear in Lithgow Court.
Bizarre hotel theft
THE owner of a hotel in Lithgow has contacted police after a number of mounted animal heads were brazenly stolen on Sunday night. The taxidermy trophies include a mounted goat’s head along with two species of fish. The theft is believed to have occurred during open hours between 11pm and 2am while the bar was briefly left unattended. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Traffic mirror stolen
LITHGOW police are asking residents for assistance following the theft of a traffic safety mirror from the Victoria Avenue and Hay Street intersection in Lithgow. The mirror is believed to have been stolen on Saturday at around 1pm. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Lithgow police.
Bush rescue
RESCUE Squad members were called out on Friday afternoon to assist an elderly man who had lost directions while bushwalking on the mountain above McKellars Park at Lithgow. The man contacted police by mobile phone to say he was unable to find his way back down the valley. With light due to fade and the evening freeze not far off rescue squad members had to work against the clock to get the man to safety. He was embarrassed but otherwise uninjured.
