NSW Fire and Rescue Commissioner Greg Mullins revealed at Saturday’s fire station centenary celebration that his links with Lithgow go back a long way.
His father, now 91, was born here.
When Greg told his dad he was coming to Lithgow to the fire station anniversary dad asked ‘… to the new one?’.
‘No, it’s an old one,’ was the Commissioner’s reply. ‘Not in my day,’ said dad having the final word.
Timely
AS reported elsewhere the timing couldn’t have been better (or probably ‘worse’) when a team from Lithgow Fire Station received a call out just as the centenary ceremony for the station was getting under way.
But it could have been worse.
The emergency was a call for help from a resident who had a burst water pipe in the house after an overnight frost.
