Residents should not be alarmed as the controlled burn is being constantly monitored by NSW RFS.
NSW RFS Superintendent Greg Wardle said the burns are in preparation for next fire season.
“Hazard reduction is a vital element in helping to reduce the intensity of bush fires,” Supt Wardle said. “This controlled burn will help protect properties and assets in and near the Marrangaroo Range Training area and also assist firefighters to control any future bushfires.
Members of the RFS will be at the Marranagaroo RFS Fire Shed located on the Great Western Highway until later this evening to answer any questions or concerns residents may have.
Alternately you can head to the RFS website for updates and property preparation in case of a fire.
