THE weather gods turned on a superb day for the opening of the Lithgow Olympic Pool with a small band of hardy swimmers taking advantage of the Saturday conditions.

The pool was a chilly 20 degrees, but the pool’s Clare Rodgers assured everyone who would listen to her that by the end of the weekend the heating system would push the temperature up to a comfortable 27 degrees.
No matter what the temperatures are, there are always young swimmers who want to be the first to break the ice and they were thankful the council did not pass a last minute motion to shut the pool for the 2014-15 season for maintenance.
Council were assured that all matters were addressed and the swimming season would go ahead.
It is exciting times for swimmers with the long awaited indoor pool set to open around the end of March — just in time for the colder weather.
In the meantime, the Lithgow Olympic Pool looks a picture and now that the temperatures are rising it is very inviting for those who like their water that little bit warmer.
