Under 7
WC Wolves v WC Blue: Another entertaining match between these two teams with the children playing with much enthusiasm. For Wolves Blake Livingstone defended strongly while Braiden Moss and Joshua McManus worked hard in the midfield and Liam O’Regan attacked well. Thomas Gordon received the Workies award.
Under 9
Workies Blue defeated Jays 2-1: It was a hard fought game with Workies Blue coming away victorious. Workies Blue worked well as a team. Kade Anderson and Grace Dean scored for Workies Blue and Nathan Marshall for Jays.
Under 11 major semi final
Jays defeated Workies Gold 2-1: Workies Gold played one of their best games and were unlucky to lose after pushing Jays to the limit. The game went into golden goal extra time. Carly Bulkeley defended well keeping Workies in the game and James Luck was great in goals making a number of saves. Lilly Bannon played with enthusiasm, Flynn Luck played big part in the game and Bradley Turrell defended very well. Workies’ Mitchell Thompson scored and the players’ player was Carly Bulkeley. Jays played well, displaying excellent teamwork to take the game into extra time. Nathan Marshall was one of Jays’ best players with Breanna Rodham making many attacking runs. Shakaya Bott steered Jays to the win scoring both goals. Workies Gold will now play Workies Blue in the final and Jays go into the grand final
Under 13
Jays played a well constructed game with Chelsea Marshall and Ashley Luka the standouts. Jays players keep improving each week which is pleasing for the coach. Chelsea Marshall and Isabelle Radburn were Jays scorers and now go straight through to the grand final.
Under 17
Jays defeated Zig Zag 6-1: Zig Zag started strongly with great attack from Campbell Ferguson and Morgan Stapleton combining well for Cam to put away Zig Zag’s only goal. Zig Zag tried to penetrate the Jays’ back line with little success. Ziggies were down in numbers for the finals and it was always going to be tough with no substitutes. Lachie Christenson, Sophie Inzitari, Olivia Stewart and Orla McKinney worked hard in the forward line. Great defence was shown by Emma McGuiness, Mikaylah Hawken, Shaylea McMillan and Shane Wilson. Logan Hunter was kept very busy in goals pulling off some great saves. Thanks to Keely Hunter for her patience and ability to transfer her knowledge and expertise. Jays were determined from the get go and scored their first goal within the first few minutes. Jays displayed some great passing throughout and this led to them surging ahead in attack. Madi Haddon, Erin Trudgett and Katie Dowler led Jays in the mid field with Tennielle Collins and Tiarne Newham assisting. Clare Bosman and Tayla McLean scored two goals each with Erin Trudgett and Tennielle Collins scoring one each. Jays will now meet Workies Panthers in the final, with the winner playing the Wolves in the grand final.
