The Hydro, after a decade in the doldrums, is undergoing a multi million dollar refurbishment under new owners and will return as a major attraction in a multi purpose role.
Some dilapidated structures have been demolished, new buildings are under construction and the sprawling complex has been freshly painted.
But the most eye-catching feature of the refurbishment at present is the work under way on the most dominant part of the building — the dome above what was usually referred to as ‘The Casino’.
The dome is currently encased in scaffolding to enable the delicate work to proceed — itself now creating an unavoidable, albeit temporary, landmark beside the highway. lm090214LA0693
