Lithgow Council is reminding the community of the importance in displaying street numbers or rural addresses on their property.
Lithgow Mayor Maree Statham said today “Nobody wants to be in a situation where lives could be put at risk through delays caused to emergency services because a property is not properly identified.
Therefore, Council would like to remind all residents of the importance of displaying the correct street number or rural address on their property.”
“If you do not know your street number or rural address for your property this can be arranged by contacting Council. In some cases a small charge may apply, but this is a small price compared to the peace of mind knowing that emergency services can properly locate your property” added the Mayor.
Further information can be obtained by contacting Council or visiting the Geographical Names Board website: http://www.gnb.nsw.gov.au/publications/fact_sheets.
Ensuring that information is communicated between Council and the community openly and effectively by providing information on property addresses is part of the Governance and Civic Leadership responsibilities of Council in the Community Strategic Plan.
