Tall Timbers easily put paid to Miscues who flew out the box in the first two rounds then suddenly hit a wall this week.
Jiggers always give Helmets a run for their money and this week nothing was different as they also easily beat them but Helmets were missing their rock of confidence Ian Miles.
Lithgow Free Range Meats Pockets v Exceltech Industrial Electronics Outlaws:
Justin McKinnon played Peter Warner and unbeknown to Outlaws Warner was the one shining light on the night. McKinnon had a 20 start and this was nowhere near enough as Warner completely dominated.
He was sinking everything he could see even things he could not see and all McKinnon could do was watch. Warner only let him score 13 points as he easily won 74-33.
Trent Warren played Justin Nelson in a game that swung both ways as Nelson took control of the game from the start took the lead and then saw Warren come from behind and in doing so scored a 22 break to win in a thriller.
Warren had a 34 start and this was quickly eroded as Nelson was playing skilfully and took the lead and was comfortably in the lead.
Warren played a lucky yellow on the colours which then in turn gave the momentum he needed to come home and win in the closest of margins 74-73.
Trystan Ford played Leo Keeley in a game of the young Ford who is getting better with every outing and the wily veteran Keeley who stills plays a very good game and knows how to dry the points up on his opponent. Ford had a 30 start and used this to his advantage as he did enough to keep Keeley from coming over the top of him in a good game to Ford 59-51.
Jeff Holt played Tony Medina in a surprise for all as Medina moved out of the district upon retirement and looks to maybe coming back. Without much practice the popular Medina was going to struggle and this is what happened as Holt took no prisoners as played with skill and left nothing for him to play. Holt played a good game to win 61-39.
Brad Preston played Outlaws captain Terry Christian and this was a good effort considering the circumstances. Both players had a fairly good previous competition and you could see this in the quality of the play as both went well. Preston ended up playing the better game as he beat Christian 62-46.
The snooker fraternity would like to extend our warm wishes to Brad and his family.
Shane Eagle played Michael Andrews and Andrews was hell bet on trying to salvage another point for his team and eagle was opposite he was trying to continue the rort.
It was Eagle who was the one who flew out of the cage early and stayed there as he soared above the table. Andrews did not know what hit him as he tried and tried to gain some momentum only to see the game slip away as eagle won 69 -37.
Pockets won 6-1. Best players were Trent Warren and Peter Warner.
Carpet One Tall Timbers v Hunter Mining Methods Miscues:
Brett Thorpe played Garry Bender and this game saw Bender fall in a heap as Thorpe hit the road running full pelt. Thorpe had no respect for the elder player as he took control right from the start even though Bender scored a 15 break Thorpe countered with 13 himself.
Bender though tried hard but did not offer much opposition as Thorpe won 88-31.
Joe Steffen played Robert Farnsworth in a high scoring game that saw Steffen only just fall over the line.
Farnsworth has 45 start and this was eliminated through the match when Steffen scored three breaks of 19, 16 and 16.
Farnsworth did play very well and this was a quality game but Steffen only just did enough to win 80-79.
Brian Bonus played Allan Piggott and again this was a good game and Piggott was the only good news for Miscues on the night. Piggott has started this comp like a man possessed and tonight this was no different as went about his business. Bonus was not disgraced as he scored a 15 break to get close but Piggott was keeping ahead to win 77-54.
Timbers captain Keith Morris played Kevin Slaven and for the second week running Morris has kept his opponent to a 28 scoreline and in doing so stopped Slaven from notching a hat trick of wins. Morris was just too strong powering ahead over a lethargic Slaven for a 72-28 win.
Peter Richards played Miscues captain Brian Nightingale in a pretty good game as Nightingale was also looking for a hat trick of wins. Richards though had other ideas as he wanted to keep his team on a roll .Nightingale tried his very hardest but the wily Richards did enough to win 59-37.
Nick Bender played Col Tattersall and this game also went the Timbers way as Bender put the cleaners through Tattersall.
Bender scored two breaks of 13 as he beat Tattersall the living Blacks Medical Dictionary of complaints 77-28.
Tall Timbers won 6-1. Best players were Brett Thorpe and Allan Piggott.
Welch’s Highway Smash Repairs Jiggers v Lithgow Valley Storage Helmets:
Kyle Lewis played Paul Hewitt and this game by Lewis was the impetus for his team mates to follow as it hopefully kick start Jiggers competition. Both played very well at first and it was one of the rare games that Lewis did not give a lot of points away. Hewitt tried his hardest only to see Lewis play better for a 66-42 win.
Jiggers captain Greg Sutton played Dianne Stait in a very close finish as Stait came home strong but Sutton did enough early to maintain the lead. Slow game at first with plenty of safety as Sutton sunk a couple of small breaks and Stait sunk 8 reds with no colours. When Stait finally got going Sutton only needed one of the last four balls to win. Stait was sinking all the colours but left the pink in a potable position which Sutton did sink.
Stait sunk the black and Sutton got away with a lucky 39 – 37 win. Tom Capel played Helmets captain Sandra Chadwick and both were last start winners only Capel was looking for his third straight win. Both play attacking snooker and both are prone to mistakes but lately Capel has been minimising his and is thinking and playing well. Chadwick did her best but was up against someone who is playing well as Capel played a controlled and finished off with a 13 break to win easily 62-22.
Wayne Lewis played Mal Hewitt in a fairly close game as it went to a black ball finish. Both had their moments of brilliance and madness as the game swung both ways. In the end Hewitt once he went ahead stayed there as lewis played well only to come up short 48-37.
Trent Lewis played Dallas Thurlow and Lewis starred in this game as he went ballistic sinking shots with confidence. Thurlow looked like a stunned mullet as Lewis usually gives heaps of points away but the luck was with him. Thurlow played well at the back end of the game but the damage was already done by a rampaging Lewis to win 64-38.
Dave Adams played Tom Drury and this game was won by Drury playing well and one mistake by Adams. This was close throughout and Adams had a choice of safety or attack on a ball and he chose attack which did not pay off as Drury sank the ball. Adams had a chance also with 3 balls left to win only to see Drury sink the last two to score a 13 break and a 57 – 39 win.
Jiggers won 5-2. Best players were Greg Sutton and Tom Drury.
Pointscore: Miscues 12, Pockets and Tall Timbers 11, Jiggers 8, Outlaws and Red Sox and Helmets 7.
