The day was one of the early 'novelty' days to raise money for good cause and since this brainstorming idea, we have had Red Nose Day, White Rose Day, Footy Jumper Day, Bandanna Day, Shave Your Hair Day and Biggest Morning Tea and the list goes on and on.
The Lithgow community have always been great supporters of this cause and tomorrow, we will be wearing our jeans to school and work and all money raised by Jeans for Genes goes directly to CMRI to make sure valuable research into conditions like epilepsy, cancer and birth defects can continue.
One in 20 Australians are born with a birth defect or genetic disease and since the campaign started it back in 1994, Jeans for Genes has raised more than $60million in support of CMRI.
So tomorrow, pull on those comfy jeans and donate to what is one of the best causes possible – our children.
