This little critter is three months old and is very comfortable travelling in a coat pocket. So tiny!
Trevor Evans is getting him used to human contact so he can participate in educating children in schools, and some older people, about wildlife and habitat conservation.
He’s an eastern quoll, not a spotted tailed quoll; they are two different animals.
The eastern quoll is extinct on mainland Australia and as current research shows their numbers are crashing in Tasmania.
It’s a species which could disappear in the next few years.
Australian Ecosystems Foundation is breeding eastern quolls at Secret Creek Sanctuary at Lithgow to try and save the species and educate as many people as possible about their demise.
