From an early age Lachi has been a regular member in high level representative teams and his latest honour comes following his selection in the NSW under 16 boys hockey team.
Lachi will compete at the Australian championships from August 10 to 17 in Hobart, Tasmania.
Lachi had been selected following outstanding displays at the under 17 state championships where he was voted Lithgow’s Players’ Player by his team mates.
The Lithgow team did really well finishing fifth in the state in first division.
The NSW squad attended a Talented Athlete Program at Narrabeen Sport and Recreation Camp that ran from Tuesday to Friday.
Here the boys were put through fitness and agility tests and also travelled to Homebush daily where they had quality coaching by current NSW and Australian players where their skills testing took place.
At the end of the gruelling four days the team of 16 was announced and thankfully Lachi’s name was among the state players.
Lachi’s dedication is second to none, travelling to Sydney up to three times a week, playing in the under 17 Metro League competition for Ryde with brother Zach as well as playing in the Sydney Premier League in first and second grade for Ryde.
For Lachi to earn selection in this grade is a great achievement considering he only turned 16 last Sunday.
He is the son of Richard and Tania Sharp of Lithgow.
