Each year a host of young men were apprenticed to fitting and turning, carpentry, tool making, blacksmith and a whole range of specialised jobs.
For the apprentices of the 1963 intake, it is 50 years since they finished their apprenticeships and are looking to hold a reunion in Lithgow on March 2, 2013 at the Zig Zag Motel starting at 4pm with a meal being served around 7pm.
