Local primary schools taking part were Cooerwull, St Josephs at Portland, Lithgow Primary and Wallerawang while other schools came from Kandos, Oberon, All Hallows and Blackheath.
At the end of the carnival Cooerwull, coached by Peter Bradford, made it through to the Richardson Cup final while Wallerawang, coached by Corey Stockton, were also successful in making their way into the Peachey Shield.
Both went down narrowly in the final with Cooerwull falling to St Joeys Oberon 12-8 while Wallerawang were edged out by Rylstone 20-16.
The finalists qualified for the next section of the competition and Cooerwull and Wallerawang will now play in the Dubbo carnival.
It was a top effort by all the district sides as a number of their players are not rugby league players and were selected to make up their sides.
A big thanks go to the coaches for their efforts with the boys.
