A mixture of old and new faces have emerged as candidates to make up a new Lithgow City Council.
On Wednesday night, December 22, Councillor Maree Statham was elected as Lithgow City Council Mayor and councillor Cass Coleman was elected as Deputy Mayor.
Elected councillors:
- Maree Statham
- Col O'Connor
- Darry Goodwin
- Cass Coleman
- Eric Mahony
- Deanna Goodsell
- Stephen Lesslie
- Stuart McGhie
- Almudena Bryce
Maree Statham said she's eager to get started on getting Lithgow up to scratch after a strong showing in the local Council election results. Group F led by Maree has garnered 4,369 of the total votes.
"I am delighted that the team's hard work has paid off, very happy," she said.
"It's been a joy to work with them and I'm very delighted that they're reaping some of the rewards of their hard work."
Cassandra Coleman said she is pleased to see that almost half of the council made up of women. Her ticket received enough votes to get a place on council for her running mate, Eric Mahony.
"I am pleased to see that we could potentially have four women in the council chamber, which hopefully will make Lithgow City Council a place which welcomes and supports women on council and in the community," she said.
"I am deeply grateful to those who supported me and my teammates, Eric Mahony, Lucy Hoy, Ethan Fitzpatrick, and Jeff Smith.
"I personally put my heart and soul into the campaign. Eric and I both took leave and funded the campaign, which was difficult during a pandemic and the weather didn't help candidates to connect directly with residents."
