Portland Central's pre-kindies have been getting ready for big school and enjoyed a Teddy Bears Picnic in the sun on Wednesday, December 15.

The young learners devoured a delicious, healthy snack and played with their cuddly bears before a mini presentation of certificates from principal Matt Quirk and school mascot Pete the Platypus.
Each of the 10 children received a certificate for graduating Paddling Pete's Pre-kinder class and a personalised bag full of goodies including a school hat, bubbles, a book and pencils.
Mr Quirk said he was looking forward to welcoming the new additions next year.

"I can see their readiness for school and I would've liked to of had more of these sessions but it's been quite a hectic year with COVID.
"We're looking forward to having this class of kinders next year who will be in their own group, we won't have any year one students in that class which is a positive, they all get to stay together which is nice because they all get along," he said.
