The Portland native was one of 218 police recruits sworn into the NSW Police Force at an attestation ceremony in Goulburn on December 3.
After 16 weeks of online learning and 16 weeks in the Police Academy, he said he was excited to get out on the job.
"I've been doing induction days at Bathurst but I start my first shift [in Lithgow] tonight (December 8) and I'm pretty keen for it," he said.
Mr Miles said he was excited and felt honoured to be based with the Chifley Police District.
"I'm excited to have gained the opportunity to patrol my local area and I'm keen to get out there among the community," he said.
He said he was looking forward to putting what he's learnt into practice.
"Just to be able to finally start, help out and keep my community safe is what I'm looking forward to the most," he said.
Also joining the Chifley Police District is Brandon Eggleton and Jordan Carptenter who will be based at Bathurst Police Station and Josh Carpenter who will be based in Cowra.
The new recruits were welcomed by outgoing Commissioner Mick Fuller APM and the ceremony also marked his official march out parade.
"Congratulations to the men and women of class 350 and I commend them for embarking on a career in policing particularly at a challenging time, and they will have a rewarding and diverse career with our police family," he said.
The recruits were also congratulated by premier Dominic Perrotet who recognised the significance of the occasion.
"After eight months of intensive training, our new recruits join the finest police force in the country, and I wish them all a long and successful career," he said.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott also welcomed the new recruits, noting they were joining a well-equipped, versatile and modern police force.
Class 350 includes 163 men and 55 women, 26 recruits were born overseas in countries including Afghanistan, Colombia, Greece, Hong Kong, Iraq, Italy, Ivory Coast, Jamaica and Solomon Islands.
