Maree Statham said she's eager to get started on getting Lithgow up to scratch after a strong showing in the local Council election results. Group F led by Maree has garnered 42.11 per cent of the total votes, almost guaranteeing that one or more of her subsequent group candidates will make up Lithgow's new Council. This includes Col O'Connor, Stuart McGhie and Almudena Bryce.

"I am delighted that the team's hard work has paid off, very happy," she said.

"It's been a joy to work with them and I'm very delighted that they're reaping some of the rewards of their hard work."

Candidate Darry Goodwin said he was also happy with his results so far, with his group D nabbing 14.55 per cent of the votes to date.

"My hope is that Deanna {Goodsell] will get on, and I'm pretty sure she will report a similar appalling really well with polling finished on Saturday," he said.

Cassandra Coleman whose group so far received 16.25 per cent. said she is pleased to see that almost half of the council made up of women.

"I am pleased to see that we could potentially have four women in the council chamber, which hopefully will make Lithgow City Council a place which welcomes and supports women on council and in the community," she said.

"I am deeply grateful to those who supported me and my teammates, Eric Mahony, Lucy Hoy, Ethan Fitzpatrick, and Jeff Smith.

"I personally put my heart and soul into the campaign. Eric and I both took leave and funded the campaign, which was difficult during a pandemic and the weather didn't help candidates to connect directly with residents."

As of Thursday afternoon, the informal vote rate for the Lithgow LGA sits at 9.82 per cent. Meaning nearly one in every ten votes was not counted because the voting card was filled out incorrectly.
