Now, onto this week's step count. Last week I stepped a paltry 19,131 steps. Since then I am happy to say that number has risen quite a bit to 23,699, shoutout to my neighbour who has been quietly competing with me through the week, she has handily beat me when it's come to raw step count, still but it's been fun and motivating to have someone else to compare to. How active was your week?
As far as ongoing issues go, the waste to energy proposal is a big one. It's a project that could have lasting impacts on the Lithgow region and yet, we haven't heard from our local member - and new Deputy Premier - Paul Toole about it. I can say that the Lithgow Mercury has put questions to Mr Toole's office on this and the Great Western Highway issue but have yet to hear a response.
I understand that he is a busy man no doubt, but let's not hope he's suddenly too busy to answer questions from his local electorate. We will update you all with any responses we receive.
Lithgow's vaccination rate is slowing, which worries health experts who are calling on those who haven't been vaxxed yet or have only received their first jab to book in as soon as they can to get those numbers back up and closer to protecting everyone in the community.
It was a bit annoying for those who need or want to travel over the mountain to Sydney or vice versa who are now banned from doing so until at least November 1 after Paul Toole made the call thanks to those low vaccination numbers we talked about 30 seconds ago.
But I want to leave you on a lighter note, it isn't all bad. In fact it's mostly great! Former Lithgow resident Bernard 'Barney' Williamson celebrated his 100th birthday this week and we had a chat with him and his family about his life and what he had to say about growing up after the war and what has changed since he was a boy, it's a great read.
Have a cracker weekend and stay safe. And why not check out our local What's On guide while you're at it?
Love with your heart, use your head for everything else.
