After dominating in C grade over the past month, Bailey (16) moved into B grade and immediately made an impact amassing a score of 42 points.
This was a tremendous score considering the wet soggy fairways and strong winds that made scoring difficult. Runner up on 38 points was young Blake Goldspink (12) who is one of the club's top young prospects.
Best B grade scratch score with 25 points was Don Wolfenden. The A grade winner was Anthony Oldfield (6) on 38 points counting out runner up and last week's winner Kobe Hunter (7) who also carded 38 points.
Andrew Burton (+1) took out the best scratch score with 35 ocb which equates to a round of 70 off the stick. In C grade, Warren Kennedy (30) was best with a score of 37 points with Dave Muir (21) runner up on 35 points. Best scratch score went to Geoff Wheeler (19) with 13 points.
Vouchers went down to those with 35 points and went to Damien Marjoram, John Bird, Justin McCann, Dave Titcume, Anthony Boza, Mitchell Luka, Nathan Marshall, Trevor Cameron and Bill Oldfield.
The difficulty of the conditions can be seen that all but two golfers that won vouchers were A graders.
The Wednesday nine hole competition was washed out but a good field fronted up on Friday (October 1) with winner being Paul Stewart on 24 points. Runner up was Ken Durie on 22 points counting out third placed Dave Thompson who also carded 22 points which was a good score considering he was playing off a Friday handicap of two.
Long weekend ambrose
There was an excellent roll up for the two person ambrose on Monday (Oct 4) with some great golf played.
The winners were the father and son team of Nathan (16) and Dave Marshall (5) who combined to perfection to post a nett score of 63.75. They have enjoyed ambrose success in the past with Dave and Nathan making up half of a team that won the VW four person championship a couple of years ago.
