It was a step forward for the business in their eco-friendly journey with the announcement of a new recyclable box for its iconic Ferrero Rocher range.
The Lithgow facility manufactures Nutella and Tic Tacs, while Ferrero Rochers come primarily from Italy.
Ferrero has been a major employer in Lithgow for over 40 years, currently with over 100 local employees.
A Ferrero Group spokesperson said while the global update won't have a direct impact on the Lithgow team, it reflects the company's ongoing commitment to an eco-friendly future.
"The full impact of this project is estimated at approximately 10,000 tonnes less plastic used per year," they said.

"Nutella's packaging is already 99 per cent recyclable and features the Australasian Recycling Logo to make it easier for consumers to know where each part goes in their household waste.
"Tic Tac's packaging is also 100 per cent recyclable and will feature the ARL on pack from next year."
The new eco-designed Rocher boxes have a carbon footprint approximately 30 per cent lower than the previous boxes - and 70 per cent lower if the box is successfully recycled after use.
At a local level, this means Ferrero's Lithgow employees can be proud that the company they are working for is doing its part to help future-proof the world for the next generations.
